Honestly, my first thought IS the Donut and coffee chain, but outside of the reference - I love the name. It is quirky, yet has a history of serious use and carries a lot of personailty while being clearly masculine. It's a strong choice. As for the cultural references, you can never get away from them.

I like it, and it doesn't make me think of donuts.

I like it rather a lot - I enjoy Scottish names in general, and Duncan is well known without being tired or in-your-face. I'd use Douglas before Duncan, but it'd be close. Is there a doughnut brand somewhere called Duncan? Can't make sense of some comments otherwise.

I've always hated Duncan. I can't really explain why... It just looks and sounds ugly. And it makes me think of someone that's very stupid.

I like it. It seems cool, and versatile, and doesn't try too hard.

I agree with mirfak...plus I think it has some great literary associations like King Duncan from Shakespeare's Macbeth, Ser Duncan the Tall from George R. R. Martin's stories and Duncan Quagmire from A Series of Unfortunate Events.http://www.behindthename.com/pnl/149886

I think it's a cool name but I'd never use it. Duncan was also the name of a badass punk in a TV show I used to like so Duncan sounds very punk like to me.

Duncan always strikes me as clunky and awkward sounding although I like that it has a strong tradition behind it.

My maternal ggm's maiden name was Duncan and I've always liked it. I might have considered it for a ds had dh liked it. I picture a Scottish highlander wearing a kilt while he pictures Dunkin' Donuts. ;-)

DonutsThat's all I hear. It's very prep school. I've always imagined Spencer and Duncan as brothers, with Preston as a cousin.

Hehe...for me, the association to the donut brand, is entirely overpowered by association to the good-hearted, immortal, sword-wielding Highlander. :)

I like it. There should be more baby Duncans in the world.

I don't even like it as a last name, it just sounds so thick and chunky. Like Dunkin Donuts.
