Am I polish!?
Im concerned as to why I cannot find anything pertaining to my last name. My last name is : PeszatMy father is 100% polish and so was his mom(my nana) Dolores Peszat. Please advise on anything anybody? I would really appreciate anything you have to offer me.

There's a separate board here just for surnames; you might be able to find more helpful responses there.I haven't been able to find anything on it, either. It's probably just a lesser-known Polish surname; I'm sure that there are many surnames not yet documented.

I assume that if your father is Polish by your 100%... which would make your heritage Polish not matter what your surname means. In any case... Peszat is likely a mispelling of the original Polish surname Paszt. Since Peszat is most commonly used in Canada, I am guessing that a flurry of Polish immigrants chose to make their name more pronounceable by adding the vowels.Now, the more common Polish surnames Paszt and Paszta/Pestka come from the word pestka which means "stone of fruit"... which I can only assume is the seed. Another similar surname is Paszek, which is related to the name Paul, which would simply mean that the Patriarch of that geneaology was named Paul... which comes from the Latin for "humble". That is as close as I could get on my limited resources today. hope it helps.
