Dream Names
Last night, I had a dream of a young boy, his mother, and his little sister. I don't recall the sister's name, but I know that the boy's name was Luao, and his mother's name was Jomina. They were of African ancestry; they were very poor and lived in what resembled one of those bricked cubicles where they put the dumpsters and giant recycling bins, with a sheet of metal serving as a makeshift roof. The cubicle was placed right near a body of water, and there is a Chicago-esque neighborhood nearby as well. Jomina is away most of the time, probably working at a factory, leaving Luao and his sister to wander the general area of their home alone. Most of the time, the two siblings are in a nearby toy store, playing with the toys that are their until their mother gets back. And the store employees let them, probably because they feel sorry for what kind of life they're living. And through conversation the mother has with other people, it was likely that they were living in a country that was on the brink of war. Then the boy and his sister arrive home to find their mother waiting for them. Jomina has them go in the brick cubicle/home and tells them to remain quiet until she gets back; time passes and she doesn't come back. Luao gets worried, because it's not like his mother to just up and disappear like this, while the little sister is convinced she isn't coming back. Luao refuses to believe his sister and decides to set out to find her. The dream ends when Luao—get this—watches a man walking on water and wondering if he could help him.[Side note: this morning, after I woke up, I managed to look up their names. Luao is the name of a town in Zambia as well as an acronym for "laughing your ass off", and Jomina was the name of some kind of nail lacquer]

Those actually both sound pretty cool for some kind of fantasy story, despite their real-world meanings. The dream itself sounds like it could be worked into an interesting story.
