WDYT of this Girl's Name?
Hi, I just joined this site to ask an opinion on the name Gabriela - one L.
I would call a Gabriela by the nickname Gia.
By the way, I'm not pregnant, just wondering what you think about it. I've been pondering for a while now. Any better nickname suggestions than Gia? What type of girl comes to mind when you say the name Gabriela?

Gabriella is pretty and refined sounding with or without the second 'l.' One Gabriella I encountered was a beautiful little girl with a cheerful, friendly disposition. Another Gabriella I know is a confident, driven and fashionable woman although slightly inclined toward being a perfectionist. In general, I think of an elegant and graceful lady when I hear the name Gabriela. Bree and Ella make nice nick names, but Gia is nice as well although a less obvious derivative.

It's a fine name. I definitely prefer the nn Gia to Gabby.
I like Gabrielle a lot, and Gabriela is just as nice.
I am not a fan of the Gabby nickname, so Gia is an interesting choice. However, since I know many people who use Gia as a full name, or a nickname for Gianina, Gianna or Giada... I am inclined to think it doesn't match Gabriela well.
I personally would use Bria, Briel or even Ela as a nickname.

Never liked the Gab names; the Gab sound is ugly to me.
Gia doesn't really seem to make sense as a nn for Gabriela. It's too big a stretch. Gabby, Ella, maybe even Bria or Brielle if you stretch just a bit. Not Gia.

It's beautiful, though not over the top frilly, and Gia is prettier and fresher than Gaby. There's also Bree ...
I think of a girl as lovely and graceful as the name - perhaps a ballerina.
