One of my new favorites is the idea of a boy named Finch, though I doubt I would use it myself. On your list I think most are usable (what isn't anymore?)... though some don't seem like bird names, at least not by first connotation (Jack, Piper, Martin,Merlin, Merle, Tawny, Jay).I particularly like Wren, Paloma, Branwen, Sparrow, & Falcon. Also, I really like Aurora nn Rory. Very cute.

I love Wren and Branwen.
I also love Lark and Meadowlark, but maybe Meadowlark is too crazy?Aurora is nice, but I don't like Rory. It's too close to "roaring", I think. Can't come up with a better NN, though. Aura, perhaps?

Everything is usable in the middle name spot. But as a first name, I'd say these are usable:
Sparrow
Wren
Kestrel
Avis
Branwen
Raven
Jay
Paloma
Phoenix
Robin
Tawny
Merle
Starling
Merlin
Piper
Jack

Sparrow - great surname!
Wren* - a guilty pleasure
Falcon - not at all usable
Kestrel - no, thankyou
Avis - pretty cool
Aetius - hmmm, too Latin-y for my taste
Branwen* - adore, along with boy's name Bran, it's so much prettier than Bronwen
Raven - OK for a character but not for a child
Jay* - brilliant on either gender
Paloma* - love it!
Phoenix* - well, when I was ten it was my favourite...
Robin* - prefer Robyn on a girl, it's a guilty pleasure
Tawny* - cute, but not really usable
Ibis - I don't really like the 'ib' sound
Merle - nice
Starling - sounds nice, but too over the top for me
Eider - okay
Avocet - this is pretty! Is it pronounced ay - voe - say?
Merlin - I know a girl called Merlin. It's okay on either gender
Peregrine - OK, a bit pretentious
Eagle - ???
Heron - weird
Piper* - I find it a bit tacky
Jack* - okay
Osprey - seems a bit mad
Martin* - yeah, like it
Rosefinch - seems a bit ridiculous to me
Skylark - no, too similar to the horrible SkylarAurora is okay. I've never liked Rory on either gender, but don't mind Ruaridh on a boy- I just think it looks nicer. I prefer Aura as a nickname.

Sparrow - too precious for my taste. Middle name
Wren* - OK
Falcon - OK
Kestrel - OK
Avis - OK
Aetius - peculiar, maybe difficult
Branwen* - like
Raven - like
Jay* - like a lot
Paloma* - OK
Phoenix* - like
Robin* - like (b)
Tawny* - What does it have to do with birds?
Ibis - kinda ugly.
Merle - like
Starling - OK
Eider - OK. interesting
Avocet - very eccentric.
Merlin - like
Peregrine - ok
Eagle - a little characterish
Heron - interesting
Piper* - dislike. Obvs it's usable.
Jack* - birds? haha
Osprey - peculiar
Martin* - obvs OK
Rosefinch - interesting. flakey. Middle name, fine
Skylark - middle name. It's a BuickAurora doesn't appeal to me because of how it sounds spoken aloud and the same goes for Rory. I'd rather see Rorie for a female. It's just OK.Suggestions (many maybe not usable but with Avocet and Skylark? why not.)

Sparrow- I think this would be particularly cute as a middle name. I don't know if it's usable as a first name.
Wren- Completely usable, though again I like it best as a middle name.
Falcon- For me, it's not very usable. It sounds very in-your-face, macho to me, and I don't care for it.
Kestrel- I've thought about this one a little myself. I think it's usable but would certainly be a very unusual name.
Avis- It's usable. I find it to have almost an "old lady" sound, which I like.
Aetius- I've never heard of this. The way I'm pronouncing it sounds like "ate us," so for that reason I'd say it's unusable, unless I'm pronouncing it wrong.
Branwen- Totally usable. I'm a bigger fan of Bronwen, myself.
Raven- Also totally usable. I kind of like it, as well as Ravenna.
Jay- It's 100% usable, just not very interesting to me.
Paloma- I think it's beautiful and usable.
Phoenix- It's usable. I don't care for it, myself.
Robin- Usable. I prefer it for a boy. Reminds me of Robin Williams and Christopher Robin.
Tawny- I think it's somewhat usable, but I'm not a fan, personally. It sounds childish.
Ibis- I think it's usable on about the same level as Kestrel.
Merle- Usable, though I think some might have trouble pronouncing it. It's not as straightforward as it looks, to non namenerds.
Starling- I'd keep it in the middle name spot, like Sparrow.
Eider- I haven't heard of it, but I guess it's fairly usable. It seems to have an intuitive spelling and pronunciation.

Sparrow - Love, and would consider using for sentimental purposes, as a middle-name-turned-nickname. Not sure it's usable as a first name, however. I like it for either gender.
Wren - Another favourite. Unbelievably lovely, and very usable.
Falcon - Usable only for the brave. Powerful in sound.
Kestrel - More usable than Falcon, oddly enough. The film Kes revered where I live.
Avis - I remember being very fond of this at one, brief point. I think it's usable.
Aetius - I've never encountered this before, nor am I immediately taken by it. If Atticus is usable, though, this is.
Branwen - Gorgeous, very usable.
Raven - I've known a Raven, she carried it well. Not something I would personally go for, though.
Jay - I've never been a fan of Jay, but the ornithological connection saves it for me.
Paloma - Again, completely gorgeous. Definitely usable.
Phoenix - If you had asked me five years ago, I would have loved it. Now, I'm neither here nor there on it.
Robin - Beautiful, for either gender.
Tawny - Not a fan at all, it's very unpleasant in sound, and feels very 80s to me.
Ibis - Peculiar looking animal. I'm not sure I can see this on a person.
Merle - I like both the sound and appearance, though it does remind me of the dog coat. Would enjoy seeing it as a middle name.
Starling - Pretty as a word, but I fear unusable as a name.
Eider - Appealing and potentially usable.
Avocet - Less appealing and less usable.
