Faith
I have always hated this name but I mistakenly overheard it on the most adorable little girl the other day (I don't think it was her name but thought I heard her being called that) and picturing it so made me actually really like it. It's not something I'd ever use since faith isn't a concept I necessarily hold in high regard, but I am enjoying the sound of it, and the thought of it being shortened to Fay (which I also normally hate). I very rarely hear this name, actually. So what are your thoughts on Faith? photo image_zps50478a13.jpg

I never used to think about this name at all - in terms of popular "virtue" names I prefer Hope and Charity. But the other day I saw it as the middle name on a couple forms for elderly women, and it suddenly seemed amazingly pretty and unexpected. In a sea of Margarets and Dorises it was really fun to see a Faith. It seems like such an open, breezy name compared to the darker, more shut-in style of names I usually encountered. It's interesting that it's technically so popular, because I've also never met a Faith in my life. So, I sort of like it too. If I ponder on it too long it starts to become a bit more flimsy and cheesy, but it is rather pretty.

I like the name Faith. I'm not drawn to it because it's a virtue name, just because I like the look and sound.

The meaning irritates me, but I think it makes a nice (if filler) middle.

Personally, I'm not a fan of any virtue names. I find they are hard to live up to and are a TOTAL cheesefest. But where I come from, "Faith" is a normal, average name. It goes with Hope and Grace. No one thinks too much of them

When I hear the name I do assume it's a reference to religion. But faith doesn't have to be "in" anything. It's just the opposite of futile and destructive worry and anxiety. You may not hold it in high regard, but you rely on it all day every day! heheI imagine a person named Faith was probably named by someone who had to endure uncertainty, and things came out OK, and they feel like their faith gets them through. Because that's nicer than imagining that the name is sort of evangelizing everyone who meets the person, lol.Even if it were more of a pagan seeming name, it's a little too much of a word for my comfort zone - to greet someone as Faith feels strained to me, at least at first. Then after a while it starts to sound namey, like Keith. But I'm not attracted to the combination of soft F and TH sounds, either. So it's not a favorite. It's just OK.
