So I guess it depends on how broadly you define "ethnic background". I wouldn't use a name I have no connection to or that I don't identify with in some way...so I'd say no, because I feel like my cultural experience is the main influence on which names I identify with and like, but that's also assuming a pretty broad definition of "ethnic background".
