The song "Martha My Dear" by The Beatles was inspired by Paul McCartney's sheepdog, so I actually think of a dog first when hearing Martha. :)

There is a kids' TV series and a book series about a talking dog named Martha, who becomes able to talk when she eats alphabet soup.
