Re: Names you think are gothic
Many older names could come across as Gothic in certain situations. For instance, Victoria and Sebastian are not innately Gothic sounding, but if used by an ethereal couple clothed in flowing black reclining in an elegant, crumbling, haunted mansion surrounded by fog and circling ravens, then the names would taken on part of the Gothic atmosphere. Many Gothic names seem Gothic due to association.Technically, Gothic could be thought of as an aesthetic and cultural movement that occurred during the late medieval and Renaissance periods, but it could also refer to the east Germanic tribes that were the original Goths. Alternatively, Gothic architecture could be called "Opus Francigenum." Much of what I think of when I hear the term Gothic would be considered Gothic Revival, Victorian Gothic or Neo-Gothic. If this is the feel that you are going for, then perhaps you could look at antiquated names that give off the ambiance of a bygone era.More recently the term Gothic has come to be associated with alternative subcultures as well as gothic rock music, and pop culture references like Dracula, Frankenstein, and the Addams Family.Gothic by association:
