Micah gender
In your opinion, is Micah (pronounced MY-cuh) a boy's or a girl's name or both? What about other spellings, ie. Mika, Myka?

BoyMicah sounds 100% male. It fits along with other masculine names Jeremiah, Zachariah, Joshua, etc... It seems forced and contrived on a girl.

BoyAnd only boy.
As for alternate spellings I don't think they should be used for anyone, boy or girl

Nothing prevents the parents of a boy from naming him Melanie, or the parents of a girl from naming her Reginald. So, it could be both.Micah is a biblical name borne by a male. People who expect a two-syllable name ending in -a or -ah (Anna and Sarah, for other biblical examples) to be female might want to tweak the spelling to suit a daughter. Since mica is a not very distinguished mineral, this might not be a very encouraging option.People are also likely to associate Micah with Michael. They might then choose to name their daughter Michaela and use Mica(h) as a nn. Or not! I don't like the name, but it is certainly preferable in its original form and for its original gender.I'd expect Mika to sound like MIKa or MEEKa rather than MYka.

I've only known boys named Micah. I knew one girl named Myka. Not a fan of it on a girl, though.

Micah = boy
Mica (as in the mineral) = unisex
Mycah = boy
Mika (MEE-kuh) = unisex (I've met both girls and boys with this name)
Myka = probably girl, but trendy-looking

Keep it for the boys please.

Male?I didn't realize there was any confusion about this name.

Micah is 100% boy. Mica can be either. I've never seen the other spellings used, but I guess they can be either too.

boy...I've never heard of it on a girl. Is there another name with the same sound that is feminine?eta: After reading other responses, are people pronouncing Micah as MEE-ka? Because that's what Mika is, so they're not at all the same, and thus I'm a little confused. I've known a handful of Micahs my age down to toddlers of people my age and it's all MIE-ka, kind of like Michael.

Micah is unisex, well Mika and Myka are female! Mika is also a Japanese girl's name pronounced MEE-Kah!

Boy to me. I've only heard it on the singer (said differently) so I think boy.

eitherI personally don't like Micah as a boy's name, but I perceive the name as suitable for either gender. I think other spellings are all more suitable for girls.
Meike is my favorite.

100% boy!Mika as well. Myka on the other hand looks a bit like a typo to me

My intuitions, without looking anything up:Micah is a boy's name.Mika or Myka could go either way. I'd probably assume boy though.
