Richard... WDYT?
I have really been liking the name Richard lately. It sounds very handsome.I'm not a fan of nicknames like Rick or Ricky. But I'd use Ritchie on a kid. It's also my husband's father's name. I'm not sure if my dad would be able to take it if I named a child Richard but with no "Karl" in it :/. Not exactly my favourite name.WDYT? An old gem or dated used car salesman?

I am a big fan of Ricky. Don't like Rick. Richard has always seemed so privileged to me. I don't know if I like it or not. It's handsome enough though. Ritchie sounds kinda dated and it's a last name. As in Jean Ritchie. Ricky though, I love that one.

My maternal grandfather was Richard. My paternal grandfather is Karl. I’d like to honour both one day so I’m following the comments here. I think both Richard and Karl are gems. Good, classic names. And I think Ritchie (and Rick) are good nicknames. Richard Karl Lastname. I like that.

Richard is a family name to which I've always been partial. I wouldn't hesitate to name my own son Richard, if I ever had a son. I don't mind Rick, and Richie has also grown on me.

It's had a slight uptick in England recently and I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes more popular again along with the general trend towards old-fashioned names.I wouldn't use it because of the rude nickname association, but I wouldn't judge anyone else for not caring about that.

I'm starting to like this one lately, too. Don't like any nicknames, though.

It's nice and handsome and should come back in its full form.Rick, Ricky, Dick, Dicky are all pretty awful and so are Rich and Richie. Just Richard is nice.It is an old gem. And I actually like Carl a lot too.

Richard is timeless, and I'd have considered using it if only it didn't rhyme with my ln.I don't enjoy the nns either, which is always a consideration: others will use them even if the family do not.Richard Karl, no! But, Richard Charles is quite acceptable and, surely, close enough?

I've always found it a little boring. That being said, I can't separate it from Richard Papen, the protagonist of my favorite novel, The Secret History, so I do hold a bit of a fondness for it

Oh cool! Someone else has read that book!! Yes! I love it too. Donna Tartt writes so well, doesn't she.
