Why not Laelaps (pronounced *LAY-lapse*)?
Laelaps ("hurricane" in Greek) was a mythological pooch known to outrun every other creature on earth. She was an excellent hunter, and cocky enough to have bitten Zeus Himself :) Try a google search for more.
