I'm baaaaack! With NAMES!
First of all, I missed y'all! But I'm back now, to raise hell and-- oh yeah, I've got some names of people I talked to on my cruise ship! The stewards on the ship (who were all extremely cool, btw, already knew what their names meant and enjoyed being asked about their names) were hired from all over the world, and a lot of the names Mike already had on the site -- like Dragan, Rajiv, Ivo, etc. But here are four I copied down which weren't already on the site:EMINE (f) "trustworthy" (Turkish)
GEDE (m) "first born" (Balinese)
KUMKITTI (f) "good word" (Thai)
PREECHA (m) "ability" (Thai)Oh, and if you're kinda curious to see what Nanaea 'n' Mate look like in DisneyWorld, one of our vacation pics is already posted on my lifemate's website: http://johnpeel.home.pipeline.com/Vacation.htmlSorry the pic takes so long to upload, but John says he's still learning this web stuff. :) Anyway, that's me (attempting to put a choke-hold on John) with Mickey-as-Sorcerer's-Apprentice in the background looking down on us from atop Spaceship Earth at EPCOT.Other cool stuff... I saw a *beautiful* portrait of my favorite Disney character -- Chernabog -- in one of the ship's classy dining rooms (The Animator's Palate). Also, the cruise ship took us to the mega-huge Atlantis resort/aquarium/casino on Paradise Island in Nassau, where I played four quarters in a slot machine and won back FIVE quarters! Woo-hoo! I quit after that coz, see, I fiqured I did okay coming out of that place 25 percent richer. :)Gotta go pick up my dawgs from the boarding kennel now. Oh, and I was really touched by all the cool postings asking when I'd be back. Thanks, gang! :) :) :) I missed y'all lots, too! I would've posted a cyber greeting to you from the Bahamas in the cruise ship's cyber-bar, 'cept they were charging 75 cents per minute to use their 'puters! An' dat's CRAAAAAZY, mon! That would've blown all my casino winnings in less than a MINUTE!-- Nanaea

She's baaaaack! With NAMES!Welcome home, Nan :))I'm glad you had a blast, and its really cool you combined business with pleasure -- i.e. an onomastic fieldtrip :)Of the names you unearthed I enjoyed the sensual Emine and the incomparable Kumkitti (the name of my furure turbo-cat). I've also never meet anone who actually stepped out of a casino richer!
You and John look great together -- John btw reminds me quite a bit of my beloved Robin Williams :)

LOL! I'll have to tell John that he reminds you of Robin Williams. I kinda thought he looks a bit like John Cleese. It's good to be back. :)-- Nanaea

Cleese is also an idol of mine. His work has probably helped mould my sense of the absurd more than any other personality :)Looking at all the available pics of your Hubby on the web, I gotta insist about the Williams resemblance :)

Yay! :) Who on earth is Chernabog?I like Emine...how is it pronounced?
vote up1vote down
The Turkish ship's steward I spoke to whose name was Emine told me her name is pronounced: eh-MEE-neh.Gede was a Balinese bartender on the ship, and he told me his name is pronounced: GEH-day.Preecha was the assistant server assigned to our dining table, and he told me his Thai name is pronounced: PREE-chah.Kumkitti was a ship's steward, and she told me her Thai name is pronounced: koom-KIT-tee. She also taught me how to say "Good morning" in Thai: sah-WAH-dee-kah.Don't feel bad that you don't know who Chernabog is, as his name is never really mentioned in Disney's original *Fantasia*. He's the Slavic god of darkness who appears in the "Night on Bald Mountain" segment near the end of the movie. Here's where you can read about him: http://disney.go.com/disneyatoz/archives/villains/chernabog/chernabog.htmlIsn't he just delicious? :)-- Nanaea

Welcome back Nan!Oooo, Thai names! I don't have any of those yet. And a photo! It's always a bit of a shock to actually see someone when you've only ever had a mental picture of them. (you check me out at http://www.pacificcoast.net/~muck/pictures/metara.jpg)

Wow...Mike, that wasn't at all what I'd pictured! My own image of you wasn't bad but the real you is much more hip!

Thanks, Bossman! :) Shock, huh? Did you expect to see me with horns on my head? ;)Like your new look (I'd already seen the old pic of you on the 'net). And Tara is really cool, too! Is Tara Asian? You make a good-lookin' pair!-- Nanaea

I'm really not sure what I expected you to look like. Maybe a little bit more like a librarian? Of course the libarian I know best is my mom, so that may have influenced my mind's eye.Nope, Tara's not Asian. It might look that way because she's looking up and squinting at the camera, which I was holding in an outstretched hand.Anyone else have pics on the net that we can check out? So far Nan's is the only photo I've seen. It's the Canadian thanksgiving this weekend so I'm going to Tofino. I'll be back in a few days, so in the meantime everyone behave!

"I'm really not sure what I expected you to look like. Maybe a little bit more like a librarian?"****** LOL! As if! :)Have a happy Thanksgiving! I'll try to behave. Heheh... I see that someone named "Jo" appears to have responded earlier today to my posting, and got deleted. Aw...! I've been good for a WHOLE WEEK, Mike, and it's KILLIN' me! I would've *relished* tearing some newbie a new one if they'd posted something rude and imbecilic to me on my first day back. :)-- Nanaea

Jo posted something like "Uhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmm....". It was pointless so I deleted it.

Oh, okay. I should've known that if Jo was wolfbait, you would've let her hang out there for me to snap up. :)-- Nanaea
