Laura is a really popular name here in England, so I don't like it that much. It's pretty, but too boring.
Alexis is a lovely name, but again there are so many kids already named it!I think I like Alexis best.

Might be worth noting that Alexis is Greece is a 100% male name (the female counterpart being Alexia) and is derived from the word meanning "protector".
As far a Laura is concerened, the name means monastery in Greek, which explains the virtual non-existence of Lauras this side of the Mississippi.

laura is very popular here (australia), but i think alexis is a great name... i know someone called alexis, but its always shortened to lexie, which is cute.
