What is the meaning and are there nicknames associated with it. It's a relative in my genealogy research and I can find nothing about it, though it does appear to be fairly common at that time.

"Lodemia" is a variation of "Lodema", a rare name of Anglo-Saxon derivation which means "a guide". Literally, the word refers to a lodestone.
