Mike (Jelle he's the owner of this site), i can back this name up: http://www.meertens.knaw.nl/voornamen/VNB/index.php
it says: Jelle is derived from Gelle. So are Jeije and Jolle. In South-Holland, it's a short form of Guilielmus. In the 17th Century, Jelle was 'latinized' to Gellius.
