Here's another approach to your name :)
It could be also derived from the Greek "monos," meaning "alone". The ancient Greek names "Monika" and "Moneka" (recorded in *The Lexicon of Greek Personal Names*), as well as the words "monastery" and "minister", are derived from "monos".
