Vyacheslav
How is the name Vyacheslav pronunced?I'm performing Charlotte Pomerantz's "The Choosing of the Name" for Forensics this year (along with Johnny Cash's "Boy Named Sue" and Charles Lamb's "Choosing a Name"), and the name Vyacheslav is used. All the others are easy, but I'm not sure how to say this one! Thanks!Array

My first thought would be, you pronounce it exactly the way it's spelled :). But since that is not obvious to a non-Slavic speaker, here goes:The ya is the tricky part. It's a short i as in sit and an a as in apple blended to form one sound. Sorry, that's as best as I can explain it.The rest is easy: VYA-ches-lav (all vowels are short)
