Meaning? and point of origin.

Rembrandt appears to be from a Germanic name composed of the elements "regin" meaning advise and "brand" meaning sword. Therefor meaning what exactly?

Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn: Rembrandt comes from ground form Reinbrand and is composed of regin indeed 'advise' and brand 'flaming (sword)'. What does that mean? Fiery advise?

Harmenszoon means son of Harmen

van Rijn means From Rhine, as Rembrandt was born in Leiden, a city thorugh which the Old and New Rhine flow, his family probably lived nearby.

The combination of the two elements RAGIN and BRAND doesn't have to mean anything at all. In the Middle Ages a lot of times name elements were arbitrarily connected, they were taken from the parents' names.

If you really wanted a meaning, you could probably tranlate it to "war advisor", or something of the sort.
