Roula (f) is quite popular in Greece as a nickname (not as a proper first name per se). It is a diminutive of several names, such as Charis ("Grace") => Charoula ("Gracie" or "little Grace") => Roula. It is also a nickname of the name Stavroula, among others. This would make sense if the girl in question is of Greek heritage. On the other hand, I also recall having a Lebanese classmate with the name Rola.
