wow im surprised that name isnt in here, i see it all the time
from what ive seen its just from the english word 'lake'
and as for Brooklyn... well 'lyn' is a very female suffix, i dont think its in too many male names, if any
but i think the name itself can sound masculin, and any name has the ability to be used for either sex
