I don't really understand your question, you are right, it means "copper". Is that all you wanted to know or was there something else. :)

the name means copper,yes
but there is supposed to be a legend connected with the name, I found this from a guy in Denmark who toild me his father knew the legend and would pass my email to him....I didn't hear back from him sadly.
so I am curious as to why copper would become a given name....There are no copper mines in Denmark...,,maybe a Viking brought home copper from a voyage and took that name as a nickname?Hope someone knows

Ah, I see. Sorry about that. :)
I have no idea about any legend regarding the name sadly, I hope someone else can help with that.
But when looking into the surname Kopper which is apparently a Low German surname, it said that it denoted someone who worked with copper.
Therefore it is possible that someone brought in copper and this name was given to the person who worked with it. I'm sorry i can't be of more help.
