Although the definitions and backrounds of the names may not be plesant, the names of the Erinyes can be very beautiful.
Alecto, sounds very masculine personally, but in some greek myths this 'goddess' was male.
Now these two were the names of interest:
Meagera: I think it is spelt wrong, sorry for my incompatence.
Tisiphone: I find this sounds like a variation of Tifanny. I have seen spelling variations of this name that I like better then the original, such as the beggining as Tys or Tysy or Tisy and the ending with an y or ie, and the ph replaced with one or two f's
I have seen these all mixed and matched, I think its pretty. I was very surprised to see these names not in the database.
Perhaps we can add them?

Although Alecto is a goddess, like all the furies she could take on different forms.
Unlike Tisiphone and Megeara who always took on female or sexless shapes, Alecto often appeared as a human male.
Alecto also disguised himself as handsome warrior and snuck into the bed of Thyche, one of Zeus's illegitimate daughters as she slept naked.
She was impregnated and had a daughter, i believe it was Phthia. Alecto also had a child with Thalia, one of the muses.
I dont have that name written down.
But I was wondering the origin of Phthia. I have also seen it spelt Phythia.
But your right Alecto is female, despite how male the name sounds

The Erinyes are great names - thanks Pavlos for detailed meanings...
I must confess that in the (now huge) invented family I started when I was 12ish there are quads Jocasta, Alecto, Megaera and Tisiphone. Only the last three are identical :).
They're Jo, Alec, Meg and Tiff for short of course...
I can see these names replacing the more common Josephine/Joanna, Alexandra/Alexis etc, Megan (insert your own preferred spelling abomination here), and Tiffany. Or maybe that's just my wishful thinking. Can I interest anyone in the name Gehenna?

1. Tisiphone: "avenger of blood" is derived from "tino" ("to pay a price") and "phonos" ("murder").
2. Allecto: derived from "allektos" meaning "ceaseless, implacable"
3. Megaira: derived from "megairo", "feel a grudge towards". "Megairo", is interestingly derived from "megas" ("big") and "gerairo" ("to offer a gift or honor").

I've always liked Tisiphone, name-wise. Megaira's nice too.
Male Allecto? I've never heard of that. Interesting.
