Atzer...
Atzer, My father's name is Atzer(Atz). I would like to know the meaning of the name. I would like to use the name, but I want to know the meaning first. My father is unaware of the meaning. My paternal grandparents were from the German speaking part of Switzerland. I typed the name on Google and I found a few sites
featuring the name in foriegn texts, and the text seamed to be German. I don't read or speak German, so I can't decipher what is being said.any help you can offer will be great.thank you.

Atzer is my last name! I am always trying to learn more about it. My grandfater was born in Russia in the late 1800's and was of jewish decent. The name possibly might of changed when my father's family came to the Phila. area from Russia.

There's a German name "Atze". It's a pet form of Old German names beginning with "Adal-" (meaning: noble). It is even used as a pet form for Artur. I'm quite sure that Atzer is related to Atze, although I've never heard of that form before...Regards, Satu

I typed Atzer in Google, and all the articles that came up contain the word Schätzer (something like appraiser, from die Schatze - treasure). And then there is this company, Atzler (www.atzler.de), but no Atzer. Maybe Atzer is the Swiss short of a common name like Arnold (that is a wild guess, though
