Why not try reading down the popularity lists (elsewhere on this site) for the year of her birth? Her parents didn't know she was going to grow up to slice bits off herself in moments of madness, so they would have given her a name they just liked at the time. If it doesn't fit her later character, how were they to know at the time? Just _name_ the lassie - name her
Gertrude or
Gloria if necessary - and get on with the story.
