It's not tatoo.. the invading Romans gave the nickname "Scoti" to the then Caledonian tribes which in Latin meant thieves.

It is kind of contradictory since it was since Romans invading the Caledonians, the Romans where the thieves(for "stilling" their land)That would make Scotland "land of thieves"...??? Nothing to be proud of, hey?
