Trinidad is one of the islands in the Carribean, formerly known as the British West Indies (together with Tobago, Jamaica, Barbados, and the Bahamas). Today, it is the major part of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
According to T&T's official website http://www.gov.tt/about/history.html
the island got its name from Christopher Columbus who landed there in 1498 and took possession of it in the name of the Spanish Crown. Trinidad is Spanish for "Trinity."
Hope that helps

Click on TrinidadAlso, to add something to it, Trinidad comes form the Latin
TRINI -ae -a [three at a time , three together] + DATIO -onis f. [a giving]; legal , [right of alienation].
So, Trinidad or Trinity means "Alienation of three" = which is Father, Son & Holy Spirit (Christianity)Hope this helps :o)~Magia~

Are you Latino?Trinidad is the word for trinity (as in the Trinity). I believe it is somewhat common (but I'm not exactly sure since my offline sources aren't as accurate as other people's sources.)Phyllis (aka Sidhe Uaine or Gaia Euphoria)
