Anyone heard of Aziza?
I met a woman named Aziza who said she was from a part of Russia. However, she looks Asian and her name seems to be Arabic. Just curios, it's not listed. Can anyone help? Thanks!

Well, I can try.. as you can see, my name is aziza too, and i've read that it is originally a hebrew name, and it means "strong", but i've also read that it can mean "precious", but i think it has lots of different meanings in all languages

And...Does her family *originally* come from Russia, or from a part of the former USSR? All of the former Soviet Republics in Asia (Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kirghizstan, etc.) have predominantly Muslim population - maybe that's how she ended up with an Arabic name.

Hi PJCentral,I found three different meanings, but I'm sure that it's just one root for the three meanings because they are quite similar and do all come from the same "area":1) Arabic: "dear"
2) African (Swahili): "valuable"
3) Hebrew: "strong"Regards,
Satu
