I love the name Ylva, and I've never seen anyone actually named it before. You're from Sweden, right? This website says Ylva means "she-wolf" in Old Norse. I used it for a werewolf character in my young adult fantasy novel. How do you pronounce it? I've had varying opinions on this.

Now I'm rambling... ;)

Yes, Ylva means female wolf. It is not uncommon here in Sweden. The male form is Ulf ("ulv" is an old name for wolf).

Well, the Swedish Y-ljud is not used in English. It is the same sound as the German ü-sound and the French u-sound. I guess English-speaking people would say "Ilva".
