Perhaps you are studying Spanish, but you are not learning it.
Profe Esteban and me, we are native Spanish speakers, philologists and teachers of this language.
Your guess about the pronunciation is wrong. In Spanish the ONLY way to pronounce the diphthong ie after a consonant (in Nie-) is [je] (['njebes]). The rest of pronunciations are mispronunciations.
