Question about name
HeyI'm reading this book right now, and one of the main characters names is Brodick. I can't find this on the internet as an actual name...its the location of a place in Scotland. I'm guessing that the pronunciation of the town and the name would be the same, but I don't think I'm saying it right because its Scottish and it might have different pronunciations of different sounds.Does anyone know how to pronounce it correctly? Is it just how its spelled? Thanks.

The name of the place on Arran is pronounced braw-dick. (I'm Scottish). The author could have got it from the place or maybe a surname? It does seem to be in existence as a surname, though rare and there is a surname Broderick so maybe it's a variant?
The place name if you're interested means 'broad bay' from the Norse breda vick.
