In South Africa it's a blended name. This means that, if there's a family tradition of naming a daughter ANna PetronELla or ANna ELizabeth, then it's probably after her grandmother, which means that she'd share her name with lots of cousins. To avoid that, or just to sound more modern, parents often combine the two traditional names into one new one. Of course, there aren't that many possible combinations ... but it's a gesture!
