How do you pronounce 'Pancras'?
Hello, everyone. I'm not a native English speaker, so I can't be sure I read this name correctly. Could anyone please tell me how "Pancras" is pronounced? Specifically, I mean the St Pancras railway station in London. Is it 'pan' rhyming with 'man, tan, ban, ran'? And 'cras' rhyming with 'grass,' pronounced the British way? I really appreciate your help.

More like PAN-cris. The emphasis is on the first syllable - just like the thing you fry the fish in - so the vowel in the second syllable becomes less distinct. The station as a whole (!) would be sin PAN cris, or maybe sint PAN cris. But then the t would be very hard to hear.
