Re: Nadil

In France, Nadil is used among people from Muslim/North African origin: Nadil Golic (http://echiquier.armagnac.free.fr/interne_details.html)Nadil Aazizou (http://accloyes.chez-alice.fr/resultsaisencou/saisonhiver/poussin.htm)Nadil Menad (http://forceathlet.chez-alice.fr/2emepas2004.htm)Nadil Terbeche (http://unss62.org/20062007/08apsa/cross/tour1/centre_lievin/indiv/pri_bg03.htm)Nadil Cheded (http://www.kms.fr/Eprv/Rsl/02/Rsl-VisuEprv-02.Asp?Param=La-Mediterraneenne&Param=MedMar02.Dbf&Param=10Km&Param=Marignane)Etc.And also in Switzerland, because there is a legal disposition refered to Nadil:"[177] Art. 69 al. 2 OEC – Obligation de rajouter un deuxième prénom au prénom «Nadil». 1994 / 357"(www.fr.ch/ofl/rfj/squinq/sq92_96_jur.doc)Perhaps Nadil is an Arabic name basically used, as first name, in North Africa areas (Morocco, Algeria), which are also not English speaking but French speaking areas, and the sources that you are using are in English.Lumia

That certainly is a good possibility. The books written on Arabic or Muslim names in English do tend to concentrate on names used in countries such as Pakistan, Iran, Palestine, and Egypt, and probably wouldn't have much to say about names which are mostly used in the former French colonies of North Africa. :)
