I have a very old baby name book that says that names Caryn/Carin/Carina all means "the keel, one of the 5 stars in the constellation
Orion". The booklet is called Names for Boys and Girls and looks like it was put ouy by Enfamil in the 1960's. It is the only source so far I have found. In fact we are using
Orion as our baby's middle name and I'm also trying to find more information on this ince my mother-in-law's name is
Karen and it would be nice if his name has some connection to hers. Even if it is remote.
