Miara
I thought it was a made up name my daughter gave my granddaughter. Turns out I met a woman in the Philippines who had the same name. She told me "Miara" is fairly common and is the name of a filipino perfume. I have searched for it and can't find a listing with it's meaning. Anybody know what "Miara" means?

I spoke again with Miara, my chatroom friend who has the same name as my granddaughter. Miara told me that her aunt told her that the name is derived from the word, myrrh. I've looked up the etymology of the word, myrrh, and it seems plausible: Greek, myrrha. But I can't confirm this in any name dictionary I've been able access.

'miara' is the Polish word for measuring-ruler.
But, I doubt that that's what you're looking for.
