Rukard?
Does anyone know the meaning and origin of the name "Rukard"? It was the middle name of Hurd Hatfield (William Rukard Hurd Hatfield), an American actor. I'm interested in using the name, however, I can't find any information in regards to the meaning or its origin. If it matters, he was born in 1917 in New York.

As nobody is giving this a shot I will try.
The second syllable could well be HARD (like in Bernard).
For the first syllable my guess would be Old High German "rohon", to shout out loud in battle. This last bit is taken from the entry ROCHUS in Rosa and Volker Kohlheim, Das große Vornamenlexikon, Mannheim 2003. I have not been able to verify this, neither in my Old High German dictionary (Schützeichel), nor in my E.Förstemann or A.Bach, so I am afraid, I am moving on shaky ground or thin ice or whatever.
