ACTUALLY, Oprah's parents or whoever was naming her (or recording her name at birth), I heard was aiming for Orpah (from the book of Ruth... Naomi's other daughter-in-law) and got the p and the r switched around. Thus, she was stuck w/ Oprah rather than Orpah. However, we've become more accustomed to Oprah in our society because of how uncommon Orpah is in our culture and how famous Oprah is.
