Probably been asked before...
My aunt's name is Majel, as is the lady from Star Trek, although that is unrelated to us. We are all females but I've not been informed on any ethnic background or meaning. There is a book called Ramona in which the sentence fragment "Majel the wood dove" is towards the end of a chapter, but I've never found it to figure it out. Any help would be appreciated!

I can't find the name anywhere. But I came across the name MAJELLA, originally a family name. There was even a saint by the name Gerardus Majella (1726-1755). My source* says that MAJELLA is of uncertain derivation, possibly taken from the Latin word "maius" ("bigger, greater"). Whether MAJEL has anything to do with it I don't know.Andy* Winfried Seibicke, Historisches Deutsches Vornamenbuch (1996-2002)
