ArchivesName origin, Raphod
The name of Raphod, anyone know where this name originated? This was a grgrgreat grandfathers first name. I believe he may have been English or Irish. I only found this name in a census record twice so apparently this is not a common name that was used in that period, guessing to be around early 1800's. Thank you.

This is indeed an extremely rare name. My only guess is that it might be a deliberate or accidental alteration of the rare Old Testament name Raphah, from Hebrew "tall", found in 8th and 9th chapters of I Chronicles in the Bible.
