There's a function on this website which allows you to search for related names. Besides translations into other languages, it also returns diminutives, variants, forms in the other gender, etc. Out of curiousity I tried it with several names and these gave the most results.

Katherine http://www.behindthename.com/php/search.php?terms=Katherine&extra=r&gender=both 120 names
Elizabeth http://www.behindthename.com/php/search.php?terms=Elizabeth&extra=r&gender=both 113 names
Mary http://www.behindthename.com/php/search.php?terms=Mary&extra=r&gender=both 140 names

John http://www.behindthename.com/php/search.php?terms=John&extra=r&gender=both 259 names
James http://www.behindthename.com/php/search.php?terms=James&extra=r&gender=both 89 names
Charles http://www.behindthename.com/php/search.php?terms=Charles&extra=r&gender=both 84 names
