More so because in India, many of the muslim names are of Persian origin. Even the Arabic origin names have sometimes made a journey through Persian speech leading to different pronunciation. There is at least one Muslim scholar and writer who has written a number of articles when people ill-schooled in Persian have tried to write his name with odd spellings in Bengali displaying their ignorance of the true pronunciation of his name. And, then there are names in Turkey and central Asia which are pronounced in no less an `Islamic' fashion :-)
To complicate matters, even Arabic is pronounced differently in different places; and the register of formal versus informal speech matters. So, it is best to point out the differences in pronunciation when one knows them.
