If that is the case I feel bad for getting irritated when people pronounce it Janus. It's not that I dislike that name, it's just that it's not my name. I guess I'm not familiar with how "creative" people were in naming their children in the 1930's. Thank you.

If I were to ever come into contact with a Janice I would assume it was pronounced "JAN-iss" because that is the only way I've ever heard it said. I like the "ja-NEECE" pronunciation but it would never be my first guess. You can't really get mad at people for pronouncing a name the way it has historically been said
