asselbrough surname and its variations.
my grand fathers name was asselbrough. i also found it written aas hazelbrough/hazelborough axelbrough /axelborough even hasselbruff which is how it is pronounced. the earliest i can find it is 1750 in heworth county durham. the areas i have found it in all relate to this one family ie george asselbrough born heworth moved to alston cumbria where he married in 1778.
