You may be right...I found an article on Questia but unfortunately, I've only got a preview of it. The good news is that in the Google search results (https://www.google.co.uk/webhp?hl=en#hl=en-GB&q=akyere+akan+surname), it mentions "Among the Akan, Atchere/Akyere refers to a daughter born after three ..." and it stops from there. You mentioned that it may mean "daughter born after" so you may be right about that.I also used the same dictionary of Asante/Ashanti words that I've used on Okyere and I found these possible meanings (might not be 'real' meanings for Akyere as a surname).1. "confidential"
2. "slave" (plural - destined for sacrifice)
3. "victim"
4. "wretch" (plural - destined for death)To put it simply, these meanings are for 'akyere' (as a word), not 'Akyere' (as a surname) since, again, the dictionary is used on words, not names or surnames and that's what I was saying in your last post regarding 'Okyere'. In that sense, I think the meaning that you've put is the most likely one to be considered 'real.'Since I'm not an actual expert on the Asante/Ashanti dialect or the Akan language, it would be best if you talk to someone who is of the Asante/Ashanti people just to check if I'm right or wrong on Akyere AND Okyere. If you wish to make a post about other Asante/Ashanti surnames or surnames of different origins, it might be better for you to post on the 'Surnames' board. I hope this all makes sense to you since I couldn't put a simpler response than this.

I’m a Ghanaian and and Akan speaker of the bunu tribe and Akyere just so happens to be my middle name past on from my grandmother Nana is a title given to somebody named after somebody else so my name is Nana Akyere. I’ve been searching for the mean behind the name and from what I know of the language and what people have told me I know okyere means to teach and it’s to my understanding that Akyere is just a variant used. After the third child is something way different I’m pretty sure. My grand mother was 11th of twelve children and two pairs were twins and the name for twins is atta(male) and ataa(female) and there are names for those that come after the twins (attafuo) for sure so maybe it could be one of those names.
