Re: Vian
I know that Vian is a Kurdish femine given name. I'm not sure about the meaning, but I suspect it is something like "life", "alive" or "lively".Vian is also a French surname, borne by the writer Boris Vian. I don't know about its meaning.

"Life" is the prosaic Kurmanji (North Kurdish) meaning, but in onomastic use it is commonly rendered in translation in different forms, such as Veeyan, Viyan, Vejin, which may have other meanings in Kurdish, such as "resurrection", or even "Vienna". Without a thorough study of Kurdish onomastic history it may be difficult to verify which is the primary source, and which are the later spelling variations. The ultimate root is also that of viva, quick and bios.

I won't argue with you, since I have no knowledge of your background and expertise. My experience, however, was that Dohuki Kurds (speaking Behdini) used it to mean a noun form of "love."
