Demicia - origins?
I came across a woman on facebook with the middle name Demicia and looked it up, but I can't seem to find any information about it's origins. There doesn't seem to be many people with that name but the ones I did come across seemed to point it towards being most prominent with Blacks and Hispanics. Any idea about it's origins?

Not a definite explanation, but I saw that Demicia is a brand name of perfumes. Naming baby girls after perfumes has occurred on several occasions, so this is a *possible* explanation.-- elbowin

You can never be sure with Latin names, but there doesn't seem to be any Saint or literary/historical character with that name (or Demicio), which makes me think it was invented. My guess is that it is a variation of Domicia (Latin: Domitia), perhaps inspired by the names Demi and Demetria.

My guess is that it is a variation of Domicia (Latin: Domitia), perhaps inspired by the names Demi and Demetria. This, or a contracted form of Demetricia (which I guess is a combination of Demetria and Patricia or an other name ending in -cia).

That's what I was thinking too, that it could be invented. It just confused me how, then, the people with that name seem to come from various countries; did they all randomly have the same idea for a name?
