Ida has been retired from the list of hurricane names in the Atlantic which repeats every six years because of the devastation caused by Ida of 2021. It has been replaced by Imani.

The 2023 season includes an equivalent name known as Idalia, which may have to be replaced on the list due to Ida's retirement.

That's very unlikely. There have been examples of names which look or sound very similar on the lists at the same time before. Paula and Paulette are both on the Atlantic hurricane name lists right now. In 1979 when the six rotating lists used now were created Frances was on the 1980 list and Fran on the 1984 list. Both have since been retired, but separately due to separate major hurricanes named Frances (2004) and Fran (1996).
