Daniel as a female name in Israel
I noticed on the Israeli popularity charts, Daniel charts for both boys and girls. Is there any reason for Daniel being used as a girls' name in Israel? What's the history behind its feminine usage?

As far as I know, it's a trend that modern israeli names have become unisex. So, it's probably what happened with Daniel.Or maybe it's just the israeli version of Danielle. You'd transcribe both names the same.

I presume it’s a simplified version of Daniele/Danielle/Daniela, feminized forms of Daniel. Daniel is an important prophet in Jewish tradition, so I can see it being used for females and males alike to pay homage to an important religious figure. Important to note is that when used for a female, it is probably pronounced “dan-YELL” or “dan-ee-ELL” rather than “DAN-yell” that we typically hear in English speaking countries.
