Book on LDS names including a chapter by me published
Over 20 years ago Dallin Oaks, a friend I met at The American Name Society, asked me to write a chapter on Utah baby names for a book on LDS (Mormon) names and naming he was editing. The original contract fell through and I rewrote the chapter twice to update it over the years. The book is finally out and available for purchase and since baby names are the topic in it the public is most interested in some quotes from me are featured in the publicity.I have linked to two articles about the book below. I am NOT doing this because I want or expect anyone to purchase a copy personally -- as with most academic treatises, I get no royalties and the price is outrageous. But if anyone wants to suggest this as a purchase for a library they have connections with, you might get to read it. https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/latter-day-saints-revealed-ahead-195730810.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAHBJUJBbafNvBTPl6gF_iFbmACHvndwrVIkXl7lYm_QzK5ocuygKzaM2hVw0gfBmh_WWNvwFJkxt3eRdyjhuuWS2b-iLYaepgz5g76uo0QDNcWWIFTr9bv08h2GpJD5cufN9yIDt5D_PBrQeeO-B5OHGnYg7j5f-au1RN0EKortIhttps://news.byu.edu/utahns-are-ahead-of-the-curve-in-baby-naming-trends-but-still-plenty-quirky

I am a big admirer of Dallin Oakes and I’m sorry to hear that contract didn’t go through. Their loss. I wish I had a connection to a library but I hope to add this book to my personal library.
